Indianapolis Nissan Dealership Imagines Its City 20 Years In The Future

With every new car release and every step forward in fuel technology, the automotive industry takes one more step towards the future. We’ve seen it depicted in books and movies; movies like Minority Report have offered us an oddly close look at what future drivers can expect from their driving experience. While automakers like Toyota have led the progression so far, this year will see other manufacturers stepping into the spotlight, left open by Toyota’s recent Prius troubles and the decision to make massive recalls in the face of defective brake pedals.

This past year’s LA Auto Show, which took place in December, showed how manufacturers are thinking outside the box when they look at what the auto industry will become over the next 20 years. Every year, the international auto show hosts a Design Challenge simultaneously with the show, pitting Southern California Automotive Design Studios against each other in a quest to help consumers envision the future of the industry. This year’s challenge asked the question “How will a new generation of drivers aged 16 to 23 — raised with cell phones, web cams and online communities – emotionally connect to the automobile in 2030?” Dubbed the “Youthmobile” challenge, teams from Audi, GM, Honda, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota participated, and your Nissan dealer in Indianapolis got a huge confidence boost in its corporate parents.

As the winner of this year’s Design Challenge, Nissan thought electric.
